Public Restrooms at Santa Monica Pier and Downtown Santa Monica
Downtown Santa Monica's own list of public restrooms and their hours, then 15 restroom places on the map within a mile of the pier, from the beach to the Third Street Promenade.
The pier, the bluff and the Promenade
Santa Monica Pier sits at the foot of Colorado Avenue, with the beach on either side, Palisades Park along the bluff to the north and the Third Street Promenade three blocks inland. Within half a mile of the pier our data holds ten restroom places, most with no access, hours or name recorded, so the map opens on a 1 mile radius, about a 20 minute walk, which covers downtown and the beach in both directions.
That gives 15 restroom places (a facility mapped as several points counts once), but the data for this area is thin: only 4 are recorded as open to the public (two of them only because Downtown Santa Monica lists them, below) and 5 as wheelchair accessible. For downtown, the list below from Downtown Santa Monica is the better guide.
Downtown Santa Monica's public restrooms
Downtown Santa Monica, Inc., which runs downtown's ambassador and visitor services, publishes its list of public restrooms. It says "concierge services and visitor information are available" at every one except Parking Structure 2:
- Parking Structure #4: "Hours: 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Accessible from 2nd Court alley between Santa Monica Blvd. and Arizona Ave."
- Parking Structure #2: "Open for Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Accessible from 2nd Court alley between Arizona Ave. and Wilshire Blvd."
- Tongva Park: "Hours: 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. 1615 Ocean Ave."
- Parking Structure #5: "Hours: 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Located on 4th Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd."
- Reed Park: "Hours: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. Located on 7th Street between Wilshire Blvd. and California Ave." (at the edge of the mile)
- Palisades Park, Camera Obscura: "6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located in Palisades Park on the south side of the Camera Obscura 1450 Ocean Ave."
- Palisades Park, near the California Incline: "6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located in Palisades Park near the California Incline, 1126 Ocean Ave."
Our data has unnamed records in and around these places, including more than one in Palisades Park. Two match Downtown Santa Monica's list closely enough to name: the record inside Tongva Park, and the one beside the Camera Obscura building in Palisades Park; the list below names both, with the hours Downtown Santa Monica gives. The others it cannot tell apart. One Palisades Park record carried a 24 hour tag, which cannot be right: the City of Santa Monica gives the park's hours as 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM. The list leaves those hours out.

At the pier and on the beach
Our data records a group of restrooms right at the pier's entrance, recorded as free and wheelchair accessible, and more along the beach in both directions, none with access or hours recorded. The Santa Monica Pier's own website says nothing about restrooms, so we cannot add hours or say who runs them.
Not checked: the City of Santa Monica's beach pages, which refused automated reads when this page was written, and the restrooms in the Santa Monica Place mall and the Promenade's shops and restaurants.
Every restroom on the map, nearest first
15 places within 1 mile of Santa Monica Pier, from 20 map points (a facility mapped as several points, such as a men's and a women's room, is one place). Distances are straight-line from the center of the area. Each row shows only what OpenStreetMap records for it, after cleaning: a row without hours or access details means the record has none we could show, not that the restroom is closed or locked. OpenStreetMap data from November 2026.
"Open now" and "Closed now" appear only where OpenStreetMap lists a restroom's opening hours: 0 places here, and 1.7% of the US restroom records we use. Those hours are added by volunteers and may be out of date, and "Hours not listed" means only that no hours are recorded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there public restrooms on Santa Monica Pier?
Our data records restrooms at the pier's entrance, recorded as free and wheelchair accessible, a few yards from the arch. It records nothing about who may use them or when they open, and the pier's own website says nothing about restrooms. Our map shows 15 restroom places within a mile of the pier.
Where are the public restrooms in downtown Santa Monica?
Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. lists public restrooms in Parking Structure 4 (from the 2nd Court alley between Santa Monica Boulevard and Arizona Avenue, 7 AM to 10 PM), Parking Structure 5 (4th Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevard, 7 AM to 10 PM), Tongva Park (1615 Ocean Avenue, 6 AM to 11 PM), Reed Park (7th Street, 7 AM to 9 PM) and two in Palisades Park (6:30 AM to 6 PM), with concierge services at each.
Are the Palisades Park restrooms open at night?
No. Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. gives both Palisades Park restrooms, by the Camera Obscura and near the California Incline, as open 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the City of Santa Monica closes the park itself from midnight to 5 AM. Tongva Park's restroom, open until 11 PM, is the latest on that list.
