Public Restrooms at Pike Place Market and Downtown Seattle
The Market's four public restrooms and when they close, the city's waterfront restroom, and 16 restroom places on the map within a mile, from the waterfront to Westlake.
Four restrooms in the Market, and the rest of downtown
Pike Place Market runs four public restrooms of its own, which the Market describes below, and the City of Seattle runs a staffed restroom on the waterfront promenade just downhill. OpenStreetMap has only two of the Market's four, unnamed, so we have added the other two to the map from the Market's own Market Map, and the list names all four.
The map opens on a 1 mile radius from the Market's clock, about a 20 minute walk, which takes in the waterfront, Westlake and the shopping streets, and reaches the edge of Seattle Center. That gives 16 restroom places (a facility mapped as several points counts once): 8 recorded as open to the public, 2 as customers only and 10 as wheelchair accessible; 13 have no hours in the data.
Pike Place Market's own restrooms
The Market's visitor FAQ says: "There are four public restrooms across Pike Place Market."
- South Public Restroom: "Located in the Main Arcade under the Public Market Center Clock Sign ... down the stairs to the right of Pike Place Fish. (stairs required)"
- North Public Restroom: "Located in the DownUnder just under the Public Market Sign on Pike Place and Pine St ... down the ramp from City Fish, across from Pike Place Chinese Cuisine and next to Lionheart Books. This restroom is ADA-accessible."
- Sanitary Market: "behind Jack's Fish Spot, past Pike Place Creamery and next to Kitchen Basics. This restroom is ADA-accessible."
- Soames Dunn Building: "the same building as the First Starbucks. Go inside that building and look to the left of the stairs. This restroom is ADA-accessible."
The restrooms' hours vary by season, and the North restroom stays open later than the others. When we read the Market's Plan Your Visit page on 12 October 2026 it gave "Restrooms: 8:30 a.m. β 6 p.m. (North restroom open until 7 p.m.)"; check that page on the day, especially around the holidays. The Market is "open 7 days a week, closed only on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day." With stairs in the way, the South restroom is not the one to choose with a wheelchair or a stroller.

The waterfront restroom, between Union and University Streets
The City of Seattle's waterfront restroom "is located on the waterfront promenade in a central location between Union Street and University Street". The city describes it as "hosted by a concierge", with "six all-gender stalls ... a baby changing station, and handwashing stations". Its waterfront visitor page says "public restroom hours are seasonal; 8 AM - 10 PM from Memorial Day through Labor Day and 8 AM - 7 PM the rest of the year", and that the waterfront's restrooms "are gender-neutral and ADA-accessible", listing them near Pier 58 (Union and University Streets), at Pier 62, Pike Place Market, the Washington State Ferry Terminal and Pier 57. Seattle Center, a city department, "provides daily maintenance of Waterfront Park".
Our data records this restroom on the promenade, open to the public, wheelchair accessible and gender neutral, with its operator given as Seattle Center, which maintains Waterfront Park; Seattle Center itself is a mile north, so the list calls this one "Waterfront restroom near Pier 58", as the city's page does, and gives the city's seasonal hours. A second record about 50 yards south, recorded as public use allowed and wheelchair accessible, is probably the same restroom mapped twice; the list shows both.

Westlake and the shopping streets
Our data records a restroom by Westlake, about a block north of Westlake Park, inside Westlake Center, a shopping mall. The record says it is open to the public and free, but the mall's own website says nothing about restrooms and Seattle Parks' Westlake Park page lists none, so the list shows it as a store restroom whose public access is not confirmed, and it is not counted as open to the public. A customers-only restroom with hours is further east.
Not covered: the restrooms in the department stores around Westlake. Their own pages do not say whether non-customers may use them, so we have left them out rather than guess.
Every restroom on the map, nearest first
16 places within 1 mile of Pike Place Market, from 19 map points (a facility mapped as several points, such as a men's and a women's room, is one place). Distances are straight-line from the center of the area. Each row shows only what OpenStreetMap records for it, after cleaning: a row without hours or access details means the record has none we could show, not that the restroom is closed or locked. OpenStreetMap data from November 2026.
"Open now" and "Closed now" appear only where OpenStreetMap lists a restroom's opening hours: 3 places here, and 1.7% of the US restroom records we use. Those hours are added by volunteers and may be out of date, and "Hours not listed" means only that no hours are recorded.
