Restrooms along the Freedom Trail downtown
The downtown stretch of the Freedom Trail runs from Boston Common past the State House, Park Street Church, the Old State House and Faneuil Hall to the North End, and almost everyone walks it. The map above opens on the 12 restroom places our data holds within half a mile of the Old State House at 206 Washington Street (a facility mapped as several points counts once), which covers the Common, Downtown Crossing, Government Center, Faneuil Hall and the Rose Kennedy Greenway. 7 are recorded as open to the public and 1 as customers only.
Note that 9 of the 12 have no hours in the data. The entries below give hours only where an official source states them.
Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market
Faneuil Hall has restrooms in its basement. The National Park Service, which runs the Boston National Historical Park visitor center on the hall's first floor, says the building "is accessible via the ramp entrance on the southern side of the building" and that "an elevator is available to access the basement (restrooms) and upper levels of the Hall". The visitor center's opening days change with the season, so check the NPS page before relying on it.
Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the shops and food hall around Quincy Market, lists its hours as 10 AM to 9 PM Monday to Saturday and 11 AM to 7 PM Sunday, noting that holiday, restaurant and retail hours may vary. Its website does not say where its restrooms are, so we do not either. Our data records two restrooms on the Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market blocks, one with baby changing; both appear in the list below.

The Greenway and the waterfront: hotel lobbies open 24 hours
The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, which runs the park along the old Central Artery between Faneuil Hall and the harbor, publishes its own restroom list for visitors. Among the entries it gives (most are a few minutes' walk east of Faneuil Hall):
- Independence Wharf: "ground floor restrooms are open 24 hours, 7 days a week".
- InterContinental Hotel: "restrooms open 24 hours are located in the hotel lobby".
- Boston Harbor Hotel: "gender-specific and gender neutral restrooms available 24 hrs inside the Rowes Wharf Bar".
- Atlantic Wharf, 290 Congress Street: lobby restrooms "open 7:00 am-10:00 pm. ADA accessible".
- Long Wharf South Ferry Terminal: next to The Landing restaurant, "available to the public during hours of operation. ADA accessible".
- Boston Public Market: "restrooms are located on the first floor, near the entrance on Sudbury Street".
- North Station: "restrooms are located at the Commuter Rail Terminal across from the ticketing box office".
The Conservancy lists Faneuil Hall with "hours may vary" and gives no hours for South Station or International Place.

Every restroom on the map, nearest first
12 places within half a mile of the Old State House, from 15 map points (a facility mapped as several points, such as a men's and a women's room, is one place). Distances are straight-line from the center of the area. Each row shows only what OpenStreetMap records for it, after cleaning: a row without hours or access details means the record has none we could show, not that the restroom is closed or locked. OpenStreetMap data from October 2026.
"Open now" and "Closed now" appear only where OpenStreetMap lists a restroom's opening hours: 3 places here, and 1.7% of the US restroom records we use. Those hours are added by volunteers and may be out of date, and "Hours not listed" means only that no hours are recorded.
