About MapTools.co
MapTools.co is a set of free map tools for the United States: route planning, distances, radius maps, ZIP codes, land area, schools, public restrooms, EV chargers, sun times, elevation, dark skies and flood zones. The tools work in your web browser, with no account and no sign-up.
Who runs this site
MapTools.co is run by Grainger & Rossall Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11867613). Registered office: 189 Lynchford Road, Farnborough, GU14 6HD, United Kingdom.
The tools are built and maintained by Dan Rossall, a director of the company. Where a tool page says "By Dan Rossall", this is who that means. The same company runs maptools.uk, the UK site.

Where the data comes from
Each tool's own page says which data it uses and how current it is. In general, the tools use public and open data:
- Maps and places from OpenStreetMap contributors.
- ZIP codes and street addresses from the SimpleMaps US ZIP code database, the Overture Maps Foundation and the US Department of Transportation's National Address Database.
- Flood zones from FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer, looked up when you search.
- School test scores from each state's education department, with school locations from the National Center for Education Statistics.
- Public restrooms from OpenStreetMap, and EV chargers from Open Charge Map.
- Elevation from the Copernicus elevation model, and light pollution from David Lorenz's light pollution atlas.
The full list, with licenses and attribution, is on our Credits page. None of the tools is an official source: for a decision that matters, such as flood insurance or a school place, check with the agency that publishes the data.
